Artist Profiles » Ingrid Boot
 English artist Ingrid has lived in New Zealand since 2000. She completed an Art Foundation course in 1991 at Westminster University of London, followed by a Degree in Illustration at De Montfort University, Leicester.
Her style is direct, yet simple. You will not find ‘clutter’ in her work as she prefers a ‘less is more’ approach. The guiding principal to her work is intrigue. She wants the viewer to engage with the piece, opening their imagination.
She is inspired by the female form and creates an atmosphere in her figurative paintings through pose, composition and subtle shadow. She enjoys the way light captures every line and curve of the body, and you will see many of her works are only partially lit to enhance intrigue.
Ingrid paints in acrylics or oils on canvas and she will also use mixed media especially for abstract pieces.
