Artist Profiles » Angie Dennis
Angie specialises in painting contemporary organics, in particular New Zealand native flora. Creating works of art that are organic, fresh and modern is the basis of her work.
Born in Cheshire, England, artist Angie Dennis has been living in Auckland since 1998 and now considers herself to be a “kiwi”, and if her artwork is anything to go by, she is certainly deserving of the title.
In 2002 Angie decided that the corporate world was not the right path for her. She wanted to use her creativity and work in an area that she was more passionate about, so she decided to focus on her love of painting. “I felt there was a gap in the market for artwork that complemented today’s modern interiors,’ she explains, ‘I started working on original artwork and since then the demand for my work has grown from strength to strength each year.” So much so that Angie now has a three-month waiting list for commissions.
Angie is both enthusiastic and excited about her work. She enjoys painting on large canvases and seeing the artwork when it is finished in people’s homes. She also enjoys new challenges such as working on subject matter that she has not used before.
Her work has been described as fresh, bold, and vibrant with great attention to composition and detail. Angie’s combination of using interior colour schemes incorporated into her native flora designs has created a successful point of difference for her artwork.
This funky collection of New Zealand flora limited edition screen prints have been produced by professional screenprinters. Printed with quality in mind, the prints use UV lightfast inks and are finished off using professional and contemporary framing.
